Praise be to Allah, prayers and peace be upon his Prophet and Messenger Mohammed, his family and companions.
Computer Science Department was established in 2009 and started to function in the second semester of the academic year 2009-2010. In the academic year 2010-2011 a new female section was established. The department currently consisted of eleven faculty members (six from the male section and five from the female section).
Currently the students majoring in Computer Science are in the fifth semester. We have updated the Computer Science curriculum in order to comply the latest technologies,. The new Computer Science curriculum will offer three specific tracks namely: Computer Graphics, Software Engineering and Bioinformatics for the students to choose from.
In the department, programming skills are very much emphasized. All students irrespective of department have to undergo a 2-semester programming course conducted by the Computer Science Department. For that purpose, the department manages two fully-equipped laboratories for the courses. Naturally, our department staff members are proficient in more than one programming language.
The department also embarks on research in various fields as an essential major priority. In the previous academic year, the department received four research grants from the Deanship of Research and was able to publish three papers on important topics. For the current academic year, we have submitted seven research proposals for approval and we are looking forward to improved results.
