|
The Department of Computer Science (CS) was established together with the establishment of FCITR in 2009. As a part of the faculty CS department concentrates on specialized role that spans the range from theoretical algorithmic foundations to scientifically grounded applications. The areas include computing systems, network computing, programming systems, intelligent systems, computer graphics, high performance computing, and software engineering. The program is currently in the process of obtaining second-generation research-based master's program, and a Ph.D. program in the future. These programs are supported by experienced faculty members and state-of-the-art specialized labs, including robotics and bioinformatics labs.

To be a distinct Department of
Computer Science at the local and regional levels in areas
of academic education and scientific research and advisory
services in order to achieve sustainable development for the
community. |
|
|
Department seeks to equip
professionals and researchers in different areas of computer
science community service and enrichment of the spectrum of
scientific research by providing them with the skills and
knowledge necessary to enable them to work on adaptation and
resettlement of technical and technology solutions provider
to meet the needs of development plans. |

Specialized technical
practice on clear scientific grounds.
-
Effective Scientific
practice in various scientific and technical
environments in the Kingdom
-
Refine the scientific
and practical experiences through a process of
continuous learning, supported convictions and skills.
-
Graduate students who
are able to deal with issues and technical problems of
scientific nature.
-

Computer Science scientists deal with the design and development of all types of software products, ranging from systems infrastructures such as operating systems, communications programs, to application technologies (web browsers, databases, search engines, etc.). Computer Science professionals create these software without any concerned for deployment and configuration. Therefore, the shaded area for Computer Science in the following figure does not cover all the horizontal scope. This is because computer scientists do not help users to select computing products, or find a specific software solution that fits the organization's needs. They are not responsible for providing any support to them .
As appears also in the figure, Computer Science professionals are not concerned with Computer Hardware and Architecture, and they have nothing to do with the organizational issues and Information Systems.
